Lost Chimes are Gemma and Nicky Kirk – blending traditional folk with a contemporary dream pop twist. 2020 saw the release of their debut single, a paired-back, atmospheric cover of Joy Division’s, “Love will tear us apart”.
Their self titled album was released in May 2021 and is an alluring escape into an indie folk soundscape, filled with stories of hope, loss and the energies in between life and death. Lost Chimes recorded with long-term collaborator and engineer, the late John Hannon. (NO recording, Liberez, Understand).
John significantly helped to create a sound and vision for their debut and also performed violin, clarinet and additional instrumentation on the album. RIP John, you are sorely missed.
Lead single and music video for “Island” were released on 5 March 2021 – an escape for the ears, filled with yearning lyrics, fantastical imagery and a soothing calypso soundscape of guitar, marimba and harmony.
They have been featured on Resonance FM, Exile FM, Get in her Ears, Trust the Doc, New Music Saturday, Radio Wigwam, Phoenix Radio and in Howlin’ Magazine’s “Fresh in London” Spotify playlist.
Gemma and Nicky form half of innovative rock band, Hunt Us and herald from Stoke-on-Trent and Rutland/Leics respectively.
